beginning of my yoga journey

Let me start by introducing myself a little bit. I’m a 42-year-old busy working wife and mother of 2 kids. Like most women, I’m always trying to strike the right balance between my work and my personal life.

And again, like most women, I’m always stretching myself to meet the demands of everyone and everything – be it my office work or running out to do the errands, keeping the house in order, or doing my parent duties.

I always put myself, my self-care, and my well-being last on my priority list. After doing this to myself for years, my body took out its vengeance on me.

I started having chronic backache issues; my joints started cracking, I started to have a small hump on my back, and my acne got severe –to name a few of the long list.

I was a 30-year-old female trapped in a body of a 70-year-old woman. And to make matters worse, the constant stress from a fairly new job was killing me more. I couldn’t give enough time to my daughter who was very young at the time, as I was struggling – both mentally and physically.

Alas, I had reached my breaking point. I clearly remember the day when I was sitting across from my manager, and I started crying inconsolably. I told her all that I had been enduring for the past couple of years and that I had no more strength left in me to carry on.

Trying to console me, she said something so simple yet so wonderful that it changed my life forever. You have tried everything you possibly can to fix the situation, right? I nodded, “Yes.”

Can you try one last thing? I looked up, and there was the magical word—try yoga. It has worked wonders for me, and I’m going to pray that it does the same for you.

So that’s the day I would say my Yoga journey truly began. Although I didn’t start practicing Yoga until after a few weeks for obvious reasons, that’s the day I started seeking it.
